Activity 4: Posters
- A3 paper, marker pens, art materials, Tales of the Road booklets
Making posters is a well-established road safety activity. If ICT is used effectively, the results can be very effective and can be displayed prominently around school. The posters should be based on the Green Cross Code or other safety messages from the Tales of the Road booklet. Variations can include the following ideas:
Pupils can come up with a ‘Stop, look and listen’ message aimed at younger children
Different groups can work on different parts of the Green Cross Code so that the whole code is covered
Alternatively, pupils could create PowerPoint presentations in small groups to show what they have learned about road safety, which they could show to other children and parents in assembly.
In each case posters should be simple, with a short, clear catch phrase, minimal text and an eye-catching graphic which grabs the attention.
