- Scrap materials, toy vehicles and figures, black and coloured paper.
If teachers want to bring a more creative element into their road safety teaching then a useful activity is to create a table-top model of a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights made from scrap materials, black paper for the road and toy cars. Pavements can be created and toy figures used to show how to cross safely. Children can be given the chance to demonstrate the Green Cross Code this way, using the figures (this will help with assessment also). The model will build vocabulary and the crossing can be compared with the others in the posters.
